Emergency Management Performance Grants
This grant program is designed to assist state and local jurisdictions in the comprehensive all-hazards catastrophe planning. Catastrophes include natural hazards (such as Hurricane Katrina), manmade hazards and technological events.
During a catastrophic hazard or event, state and local emergency responders must be able to coordinate within the context of the event to protect homeland security and the safety and well-being of citizens. The planning process for this level of response requires coordination with and between regional jurisdictions.
The approach to this level of preparedness involves a comprehensive planning program, training and exercises. Through this all-hazards approach to preparing for any threatened or actual disaster or emergency, effective consistent response can be expected.
This grant is best for HazMat Teams, Fire Departments, Emergency Medical Services and Search and Rescue Teams.
